Projects

Our Shared Future – “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” (Theodore Roosevelt) We need to build relationships with swing voters if we are to help them feel connected to our shared values and desire to make a better world. Get the concept paper here.

DC Tutoring & Mentoring Initiative (DCTMI) – Nearly two out of 3 DC students read below grade level and many more have other academic and non-academic needs. The DCTMI team of staff, interns, and volunteers talk to people at farmers markets and other outdoor events and spaces. When people sign up to volunteer with us, they tell us when and where they are available and we then place them with one of our 50 partner nonprofit organizations.

Ripple App – The “Fitbit for civic engagement”: Educate yourself, center yourself, take action in your everyday life, and take collective action to fight racism and help make a better world. And track your progress daily to see all that you have accomplished!

Civic Leadership Project, Inc. – Our 501(c)(3) umbrella organization for DC Tutoring & Mentoring Initiative, Civic Leadership training programs, Ripple App, and the Community Platform. Learn more about our theory of transformational change here.

CivicFest – Our annual summer 1-day event at Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park to help people “Get Active, Get Inspired, and Get Involved.”

Bodhisattva Saturday Mornings – Join us near the Lincoln Memorial Saturday Mornings at 8 a.m. for light exercise, conversation, and meditation/prayer with the goal of centering ourselves to “be the change we wish to see in the world.”

The Community Platform Project – Open & locally customized websites for adding community & neighborhood data on local assets & needs. Map, visualize, communicate, share, volunteer & much more.

Civic Leadership Certificate and Fellows – The work that we need to do in the world is far beyond what my small efforts can accomplish. My hope is to help prepare the next generation of “servant leaders”/”bodhisattvas” to tackle the immense challenges we face.
